Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 Tablet PC Refreshed with “Sandy Bridge” CPU

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Unlike the previous Toughbook CF-19 version with an ultra-low voltage Intel CPU, the refreshed system includes the standard voltage Intel Core i5-2520M dual core chip with the Intel HD 3000 Series integrated graphics. Although full voltage CPUs produce more heat than their ULV counterpars, Panasonic has managed to design the new Toughbook CF-19 without a cooling fan. The convertible meets MIL-STD-810G ruggedness standard and comes with 4GB of RAM, expandable to 8GB, and a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive or a 128GB or 256GB solid state drive. Its display still supports both digitizer and touch input and has the old XGA resolution, but now it is offered with TransflectivePlus option. It provides readability under direct sunlight, since it enables 6000-nit brightness. Regarding other improvements, there's a 4G LTE mobile broadband connectivity choice, which will be available later this year. Networking options include Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1, optional GPS, and optional Gobi2000 3G mobile broadband. There are also a built-in 2MP webcam and keyboard backlight. The new convertible runs Windows 7 Professional OS and comes standard with a 3-year warranty. The upgraded Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 will hit the market globally in September 2011, with an esitimate base price of $3,349.
