Samsung's New Series 9 Premium Notebooks, Premium Taste!
As premium notebooks, the Series 9
come to the market for premium users. What premium users? Users who
work at premium position with premium salary and premium taste.
Available in 15- and 13-inches models, the new Series 9 are unveiled by
Samsung at CES 2012 which is held in Vegas until Friday 13, 2012. So you
still have a chance to experience this notebook instead of looking at
the pictures here. The design and the look is really great, I have no question about that. It's stylish, slim, and elegant, I love it more than anything in the market. Regarding technology, the new Series 9 is powered by a 2nd generation Intel Core i5/i7 processor, 4GB/8GB memory, and 128GB/256GB SSD. It boots in just 9.8 seconds, and wake-up in just 1.4-second. But how about the battery life? is it long enough? If 10-hours is good for you, than you'll love it! And one think that make me really appreciate it, is the auto-sensing screen and backlit keyboad which adjusts automatically depending on the lighting situation. |

Acer announces ‘world's thinnest' 13.3-inch Aspire S5 Ultrabook at CES 2012
Not
surprisingly, Acer's jumping on the quickly-expanding Ultrabook
bandwagon here at CES 2012, with the Aspire S5 being the first out of
the chute. It's a 13.3-incher that'll check it at under three pounds,
offering up Instant On functionality, a magnesium-aluminum alloy cover
in Onyx Black. Adorned with a delicately curved chassis in Onyx Black, the Aspire S5′s cover rim wraps around the system body like a protective shell. A magnesium-aluminum alloy cover and palm rest provide a slimmer and sturdier form, while the metallic brushed detail presents subtle elegance. The clean and ultra-fluid contours seen from all angles make the S5 a vision of beauty. The Aspire S5 is also Acer's first Ultrabook to feature the new MagicFlip I/O port panel concealed just below the hinge. This design feature enhances the overall slenderness and streamlined form of the S5. When needed, a press of the MagicFlip key opens the panel to reveal a selection of I/O ports: HDMI, USB 3.0 and 10Gbps Thunderbolt. Yes, Thunderbolt port is present here. We're told that it'll start shipping in Q2 of this year, but other details remain under wraps. |

Samsung unveils redesigned Series 9 laptops, comes with 13- and 15-inch displays
The
Samsung Series 9 debuted at an odd time, before “Ultrabook” was a buzz
word, and when a 2.8-pound laptop was novel enough to warrant a $1,649
price tag. A year later, it returns at an even more pivotal moment:
Ultrabooks are cropping up by the dozens, and while their specs are
similar to what the original Series 9 had to offer, they cost hundreds
less. So with that as the backdrop, Samsung just announced a pair of
slimmed-down, redesigned Series 9 laptops: a 13-inch remake, priced at
$1,399 and up, and a new 15-inch form number that will cost $1,499-plus
when the two go on sale next month. Though consumers are likely to draw comparisons between that 2.5-pound 13-incher and the umpteen other ultraportables hitting the market, Samsung isn't positioning the Series 9 laptops as Ultrabooks, but rather, premium, top-tier machines. Still, for something that's not an Ultrabook, the brothers Series 9 certainly look the part: both pack Core i5 processors, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSDs, six-hour batteries and backlit keyboards — Ultrabook-like specs if ever we've heard them. Even the 15-inch model is missing an optical drive, and isn't much larger than the last-gen Series 9. What separate these sexy books from your garden-variety $900 box is a solid unibody aluminum design and a heartbreakingly beautiful display: a 1600 x 900 panel with a matte finish and 400 nits of brightness. But is that worth shelling out an extra few grand? We'll know when the final product arrives. |

Asus Transformer Prime TF70T features 19201200 display
Tuesday, January 10, 2012
[CES
2012] Asus has dropped the bomb: there's another Asus Transformer Prime
coming, and it has a 1920×1200 HD display powered by a Super IPS+ LCD panel and protected by Gorilla Glass. With this new display, you will be able to watch 1080p movies (at 40Mbps+ bitrate) in their full glory - the iPad 2 1024×768 display resolution feels like a Nintendo Gamecube.
This will undoubtedly send chills through the Tranformer Prime fans,
but it's clear that any Tablet enthusiast would agree that this
extraordinary screen resolution is a fantastic addition to an already
rising star. If you don't know what the Asus Transformer Prime is about,
read our complete Transformer Prime review. From what we can tell, this model would come in addition to the existing 1280×720 Asus Transformer Prime, and the price difference is $100 for the 32GB version, which makes this a very palatable option in my opinion. The rest of the hardware is very similar of not identical, with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 32GB or 64GB of memory etc... but we've kept the best part for the end: the Transformer Prime TF70T will ship with Android 4.01! I have added the official specifications in the full post. Note: the photo above shows the 720p Transformer Prime that came out in late November. The TF70T should look like this.ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF70T MSRP - $599~$699 Availability - Q2 2012 in North America Processor- NVIDIA Tegra 3 Mobile Processor (1.3 GHz Quad core Cortex A9, 12 core GeForce GPU) OS - Android 4.01 Display – Brilliant 10.1" HD (1920×1200), 178 degrees ultra-wide viewing angle Super IPS+ panel display with Gorilla™ Glass Camera – Rear facing 8MPAuto-Focus camera with dedicated LED Flash, 2.0MP Front Facing camera for Video Chat Storage – 32GB or 64GB internal memory plus 8GB of ASUS Web Storage2 Media Capabilities – 1080pMPEG-4/H.264 High Profile, High Bit Rate video decode and playback Media Capture – 1080pMPEG-4/H.264 video capture Connectivity - Wi-Fi - 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology Ports – 2-in-1 3.5mm jack, micro-HDMI output, microSD card reader Audio – Built-in stereo speakers, microphone Dimensions – 263 x 180.8 x 8.3mm, 586g Battery - 25WHr Lithium-Polymer Battery ASUS Transformer Prime Keyboard Dock with Trackpad- (same dock for TF201) Ports - 1 x USB 2.0 ports, Full-size MMC/SD/SDHC card reader Battery – 22 WHrbattery for extended battery life Dimensions – 263 x 180.8 x 8 to 10.4 mm, 537g |

Monday, January 9, 2012

The older Prime - again, the unit that was available in the middle of December - featured a 1280 x 800 resolution with a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, and was plagued with Wi-Fi and GPS issues due to a metallic back-plate. Lenovo's Yoga Is an Ultrabook With a Twist
LAS
VEGAS — Lenovo has announced its latest play in the ultrabook space:
the IdeaPad Yoga, a thin, full-featured notebook with a funky hinge that
lets you fold the screen all they way around, turning the device into a
tablet. Lenovo says the Yoga will be available during the second half of 2012 with a starting price of $1,200. The Yoga is a Windows 8 device, so its 13.1-inch touchscreen will take advantage of the operating system's 10-point multitouch capabilities. There's an Intel processor under the hood, and the Yoga will be configurable to hold up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of SSD-based storage. The size and weight are comparable to most other ultrabooks: 0.67 inches and 3.1 pounds. As an ultrabook, it's stylish — there's a leather palm rest, leather trim, and the typical Lenovo chicklet-style keyboard. To convert into a tablet, the Yoga uses a two-point hinge. You can either fold the screen into “tent” or “easel” configurations, so that it functions much like a traditional tablet propped up by a stand, or you can fold the lid all the way around and hold it like a normal tablet — albeit one thicker, heavier and larger than the tablets you're used to. When you flip it around into a tablet, the Windows 8 desktop switches to the Metro UI. Volume buttons are on the sides of the device so they're easy to reach in any of the touchscreen modes. The ultra-tablet-hybrid-book-thing joins several other like-minded Lenovo devices announced at the Consumer Electronics Show taking place here this week. On Sunday, the company showed off a pair of low-priced ultrabooks, the IdeaPad U310 and U410, and the IdeaPad S2, an Android-powered tablet with a keyboard dock that converts it into something very close to a laptop. We'll have hands-on photos and videos with the IdeaPad Yoga in the coming days. |
