Find My Mac Helps Locate Your Lost MacBook
MacBooks–or any laptop for that matter–can easily get lost, either through thieves or absent-minded owners. When you think that lost MacBooks would be gone forever, Apple tells you not to lose hope.
The Find My Mac software has been released for registered iOS developers. It also requires a OS X Lion-powered computer and an iCloud subscription to download. The software uses WiFi networks to locate missing MacBooks, which can be displayed either through a web browser or iOS device. Once the MacBook is found, the tool offers the user several anti-theft options such as sending a threatening message, remotely locking the machine, or even wiping off the laptop's data.
The Find My Mac, an iCloud service, is expected to be available for consumers in fall. A beta version has also been released earlier this week.

Gogo And American Airlines Now Streaming In-Flight Movies to Your Laptop
I'll never get tired of this photo of American Airlines' in-flight entertainment. Photo: Charlie Sorrel
Now, customers of American Airlines can watch in flight TV and movies on their own computers, instead of being forced to stare at the terrible seat-back screens of old. Gogo Vision, as it is called, is provided by in-flight Wi-Fi company Gogo, and has been installed on all 15 of AA's Boeing 767-200 aircraft.
Right now, you're probably having the same reaction as me. Why would you want to pay to watch content on your own laptop computer, when you doubtless have movies and TV shows on there already?
On the upside, the “introductory” prices aren't bad, costing more or less the same as services like iTunes. A TV show will cost you a dollar, and a movie will be four bucks. If you don't manage to watch the whole thing then you can finish up back on the ground, TV shows stay available for 72 hours, and movies for 24 hours. You will not have to pay for Wi-Fi to access the service, either.
If these prices stick around, this could be a great emergency service for nerds who have forgotten to load up on in-flight entertainment ahed of time.
I see a bigger advantage, though. I'm over six feet tall, and I'm also terrible at picking a good seat. Often I end up in the seat with the in-flight entertainment machine taking up half of the legroom. If these bulky boxes could be replaced with invisible Wi-Fi waves, that would only be a good thing.

Getac B300 Rugged Notebook – Upgraded
Tuesday, August 2, 2011
How strong the computer should be? It depends on the users of course. The Getac B300 rugged laptop is still able to work normally in extreme low temperatures of -29 degree Celsius as standard on all pre-configured sku’s. I don’t know how the field-based operators work with their computer, but I think it’s more than enough for such users. Coming with new processor – Intel Core™ i5 2.5GHz or Core™ i7 2.3GHz, MAX 3.2GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, the Getac B300 rugged notebook offers two display options — a 700 NITs display, and the 1400 NITs touchscreen display.
The B300 is certified to MIL-STD-810G for ruggedness and shock protection and is certified to IP65 rating for protection from water and dust. Additional options for the B300 include the MIL-STD-810F - 509.4 for protection from Salt Fog, MIL-STD-3009 NRA & NRB for Night Vision and every B300 is Mil-STD-461F ready requiring only the purchase of a MIL-STD-461F power supply for electromagnetic interference applications.

ASUS U31SD-A1 13.3-inch Laptop
Laptop Magazine has reviewed the ASUS U31SD-A1. It is a lightweight laptop that comes jam packed with a 2.1GHz Intel Core i3-2310M processor and a 1GB nVidia GeForce GT520M GPU. Measuring 12.9-inch x 9.1-inch x 1.12-inch and weighing 4.2 pounds, this laptop has a large island-style keyboard with generous spacing between the keys, a Synaptics touchpad that supports multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom and two-finger rotation, two USB 2.0 ports, a 5-in-1 card reader, HDMI, VGA, and Ethernet. When you are just surfing the web, the notebook automatically switches to Intel's integrated graphics, enabling the battery to provide up to 9-hour of operation time. Here is the verdict:
The ASUS U31SD-A1 is an attractive 13-inch laptop with decent overall performance, good graphics power, and superb battery life. Overall, we prefer the Acer Aspire Timeline 3830TG, which offers even more graphics oomph and a faster Core i5 processor for the same price. The caveat with the Acer is that you have to give up about 2.5 hours of unplugged time. If you want all-day endurance along with the ability to game between classes or meetings, the U31SD-A1 is a fine choice.
The ASUS U31SD-A1 13.3-inch laptop is priced at $799. [LaptopMag]
